Amstelveen, Netherlands, January 29, 2026: Amstelland International School (AIS) is proud to announce preparations for International Baccalaureate (IB) candidacy, and the expansion into international secondary education.

In August 2026, AIS will also launch its first International Middle Years Programme, building on and complementing the school’s existing International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Once IB candidacy status is achieved, this programme will transition into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and from August 2027, offer both MYP 1 and MYP 2.

A major milestone supporting the secondary expansion is the formal collaboration with Hermann Wesselink College (HWC). This partnership will support the establishment of the international secondary stream at AIS. Teaching within the Middle Years Programme will be shared between HWC and AIS teachers, allowing students to benefit from the combined expertise of both teams.

AIS Director, Ms. Jacquelene Da Silva said: “These developments reflect AIS’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality international education, strengthening pathways for secondary students, and embedding globally recognised IB principles across teaching and learning.”

From this August, AIS is also introducing several important programme enhancements. Students from Grade 3 up will have the option to receive four to five hours of Dutch language instruction per week.

In addition, AIS will introduce a specialised international class for students with diversified learning requirements called ‘The Lily Pad’, further strengthening the school’s inclusive and differentiated learning pathways.

About AIS: Amstelland International School offers an inclusive, inquiry-driven international education designed to nurture curiosity, responsibility, and global citizenship.
